To watch everyone get in such a tizzy over each and every Apple announcement is more than a little amusing, especially when compared to the various rollouts taking place at the exact same time in Los Angeles at the flashy E3 show. At E3, Microsoft was showing off Call of Duty on a massive screen and rolling out various Xbox360 initiatives just as the Apple WWDC was getting started. You'd think the industry could spread things out a little bit.

So let's summarize what was actually announced at this Apple event and whether or not it's important. And, of course, this is written during and after the event, so the re-analysis will probably be more valuable once we all discover all the "ooops, they failed to mention that" problems that always appear after the fact.
