There have been a few Lord of the Rings-themed miniature games over the years, made by other companies (Games Workshop among them), and I collected them all—even if the play mechanics were so complicated that they were rarely enjoyable. It was still neat to assemble a massive elf army in any format. Heroclix, however, is noted for being incredibly fun to play while maintaining its simplicity and ease of use for novice tabletop gamers.
